Fengyuan Bio currently has an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of polylactic acid. At the same time, Fengyuan has plans for new production capacity in Shandong, Hainan, Anhui and other regions, aiming to achieve an annual production capacity of one million tons of polylactic acid.
On March 4, 2022, Shandong Fengyuan Biomaterials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Fengyuan Bio, announced the first public announcement of the environmental impact assessment of the 100,000-ton-per-year polylactic acid project. The project, with a total investment of 960 million yuan, is located in Weifang Binhai Economic and Technological Development Zone. It uses high optical purity lactic acid as the main raw material and uses lactide ring-opening polymerization to prepare polylactic acid. The estimated construction time is 2022-2024.
In June 2022, Hainan Free Trade Port Suida Equity Investment Fund invested 300 million yuan in Fengyuan Bio. According to the agreement, Fengyuan Bio will set up a subsidiary in Hainan Province to accelerate the progress of related projects.
In addition, the 300,000-ton/year polylactic acid project of Anhui Fengyuan Taifu Polylactic Acid Co., Ltd. is expected to be completed and put into operation in the second half of 2022. By then, the annual production capacity of Fengyuan Bio-polylactic acid will increase to 400,000 tons, ranking first in the world.
