Production of raw coal, crude oil and natural gas grew steadily in May

Latest News: According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on the 15th, in May, the production of industrial raw coal, crude oil and natural gas above designated size increased steadily, while the production of electricity declined year-on-year. Compared with April, the production of raw coal, crude oil, and natural gas remained stable, and the decline in power production narrowed.

Raw coal production maintained rapid growth, and imports turned from an increase to a decrease. With the deepening of the policy of ensuring coal supply and stabilizing prices, the production of raw coal continued to maintain rapid growth. In May, the production of raw coal was 370 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 10.3%, and the growth rate slowed down by 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, with an average daily output of 11.87 million tons. Imported coal was 20.55 million tons, down 2.3% year-on-year and up 8.5% last month.

From January to May, 1.81 billion tons of raw coal were produced, a year-on-year increase of 10.4%. Imported coal was 95.95 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 13.6%.

Crude oil production was stable and imports accelerated. In May, 17.57 million tons of crude oil were produced, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%, and the growth rate was 0.4 percentage points lower than the previous month, with an average daily output of 567,000 tons. Imported crude oil was 45.82 million tons, an increase of 11.8% year-on-year, 5.2 percentage points faster than the previous month.

From January to May, 85.69 million tons of crude oil were produced, a year-on-year increase of 4.1%. Imported crude oil was 216.71 million tons, down 1.7% year-on-year.

Crude oil processing continued to decline. In May, 53.92 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 10.9%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, and an average daily processing volume of 1.739 million tons. From January to May, 277.16 million tons of crude oil were processed, a year-on-year decrease of 5.3%.

Natural gas production remained stable, while the decline in imports narrowed. In May, the production of natural gas was 17.7 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 4.9%, and the growth rate was 0.2 percentage points higher than that of the previous month, with an average daily output of 570 million cubic meters. Imported natural gas was 9.07 million tons, down 12.1% year-on-year, 7.5 percentage points lower than the previous month.

From January to May, the production of natural gas was 92.4 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Imported natural gas was 44.91 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3%.

The decline in electricity production narrowed. In May, the power generation was 641 billion kWh, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%, a decrease of 1.0 percentage points from the previous month, and the average daily power generation was 20.68 billion kWh. From January to May, power generation reached 3.2 trillion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 0.5%.
