This is Tsingtao Zhixing’s successful application of a new generation of sugar-based 1,3-propanediol production technology to a 10,000-ton production line after the successful commercialization of glycerol fermentation production of 1,3-propanediol technology in 2018. Tsingtao Zhixing has become the only high-tech enterprise in the world that has mastered “glycerol + sugar multi-raw PDO fermentation technology” and realized industrialization.
The project is located in Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. After the first phase is put into operation, it will form a bio-based 1,3-propanediol production capacity of 20,000 tons per year, providing a stable source of PDO for polyester, polyurethane, cosmetics, degradable plastics and other industries.
After more than 20 years of technical research, the technical team with Professor Liu Dehua from Tsinghua University has mastered the large-scale production technology of glycerol PDO with completely independent intellectual property rights, and solved the key “stuck neck” problem in the development of the PTT industry chain. It has fundamentally broken through the restrictions on the development of polyester, polyurethane, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries in my country due to the absolute monopoly of bio-based PDO preparation technology by foreign companies for more than 20 years.

Using the starch sugar with favorable price and high quality from Changqing Biotechnology as raw material, and using the mature sugar fermentation technology of Qingda Zhixing to produce 1,3-propanediol, “pointing stone into gold”. Qingda Changxing realized the commercialization of the first sugar-based bio-based 1,3-propanediol project in China to meet the major needs of my country’s consumption upgrade in the fields of textiles, clothing, and polyurethane.
