In 2021, my country’s total renewable energy utilization will reach 750 million tons of standard coal

Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, June 24 (Reporter Dai Xiaohe) In 2021, my country’s total renewable energy utilization will reach 750 million tons of standard coal, accounting for 14.2% of total primary energy consumption, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.95 billion tons. Lay the foundation for the realization of the “two-carbon” goal.

This is the data disclosed in the “China Renewable Energy Development Report 2021” released by the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Conservancy Planning and Design on the 24th.

Li Sheng, general manager of the General Institute of Hydropower and Water Conservancy Planning and Design, introduced that in 2021, my country’s installed renewable energy capacity will exceed 1 billion kilowatts, accounting for 44.8% of the country’s installed power capacity. The installed capacity of material power generation ranks first in the world; renewable energy power generation is 2.48 trillion kWh, accounting for 29.7% of the total power generation. The utilization rate of renewable energy has been continuously improved, and the utilization rates of hydropower, wind power and photovoltaic power generation have reached 97.9%, 96.9% and 98% respectively throughout the year.

Li Sheng said that in 2021, my country’s conventional hydropower will be put into production by 18 million kilowatts, and the installed capacity of large conventional hydropower stations will be 38 million kilowatts, of which the newly approved capacity will be 3.6 million kilowatts; the new grid-connected installed capacity of wind power will be 47.57 million kilowatts. Among them, the newly added grid-connected installed capacity of offshore wind power was 16.9 million kilowatts; the newly added installed capacity of solar power generation was 54.93 million kilowatts; and the newly added grid-connected installed capacity of biomass power generation was 8.08 million kilowatts, a record high. At present, there are more than 200 million kilowatts of pumped-storage power stations in my country that are in the early stages of work.

The report pointed out that by the end of 2021, my country’s conventional hydropower installed capacity will reach 354 million kilowatts, the pumped storage installed capacity will be 36.39 million kilowatts, and the annual hydropower generation capacity will be 1.34 trillion kWh; kWh; the installed capacity of solar power generation is 306 million kW, and the annual power generation is 327 billion kWh; the installed capacity of biomass is 37.98 million kW, and the annual power generation capacity is 163.7 billion kWh.

Xiong Minfeng, deputy director of the New Energy Department of the National Energy Administration, said that as of the end of May this year, my country’s installed renewable energy capacity reached a new high, with an installed power generation capacity of more than 1.1 billion kilowatts. The rapid development of renewable energy has made positive contributions to the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient energy system.
